Materials

Assorted small evergreen boughs Gathering basket

Scissors Clear glass bowls4" x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm) fabric squares, one per child4" (10 cm) pieces of jute, one per child

Instructions

1. Allow children to gather evergreen boughs or ask families to collect them.

2. Place the boughs in the gathering basket.

3. Give each child a clear bowl and pair of scissors.

4. Each child chooses a bough.

5. Show the children how to snip the needles into small pieces until their bowl is filled.(Alternatively, the teacher could do the snipping.)5. Place evergreen cuttings onto the fabric square.

6. Help the children gather the edges of the squaresand tie with jute.
