Instructions

1. Hold or stand in front of a large unbreakable mirror (large enough to fit
two faces).
2. Hold the infant or have the toddler stand next to you, making sure that
his face is next to yours in the mirror.
3. Make eye contact with the child using the reflection in the mirror.
4. Make a variety of different facial expressions or movements, such as
rounding your lips, smiling, showing your teeth, puckering your lips,
sticking your tongue out, circling your tongue around your lips, moving
your tongue from side to side, and so on.
5. As you make each facial expression or movement, describe what you
are doing. "I'm sticking out my tongue!"
