Instructions

1. Cut a 3" slit across each tennis ball
(adult-only step). Note: It is best to this before
the children arrive, and then put the x-acto knife away so it is out of the
reach of the children.
2. Give a tennis ball to each child. Ask the children to draw a mouth
around the slit using markers. They can also add eyes, nose, and ears to
their ball friends.
3. Invite the children to give their ball a name.
4. Show them how to squeeze the sides of their ball friends' mouths to
make them "talk."
5. With the other hand, have the child pretend to "feed" their ball friend.
