Materials

Clear contact paper, 24" x 12" (60 cm x 30 cm), one sheet per child

Pre-cut letters or child's name printed on 2" x 6" (5 cm x 15 cm) pieces of paper

Assorted small cut-outs

Confetti

Sequins, flat and 1" (3 cm) in size or less

Scissors

Instructions

1. Reveal half of the contact paper by peeling back the protective layer and folding it back. Holdpaper in place as the child explores the sticky surface.

2. Encourage the children to place their names (or letter cut-outs) onto the sticky paper, then addother decorations, making sure to keep all of the pieces flat and toward the center of the paperwith the edges free of debris.

3. When complete, reveal the second half of the contact paper and help the children fold it overand smooth it out flat.

4. These placemats are washable and will last most of the school year.
