Instructions

1. Create a generic, reusable graphing chart. Because it lays flat and can be rolled up and stored easily, the window shade is a perfect pull out and put away item. Make horizontal and vertical lines to create a graph.

2. If you have a die-cut machine, cut out a variety of shapes to stimulate charting activities. Put small amounts of tape on the back of shapes when using them to help them stay put, but also be easily removed.

3. Introduce the graph at group time to help children learn graphing skills. They may conduct their own surveys during choice time.

4. Start with simple, fun surveys, such as who has pets and what kinds, favorite foods, ice cream flavors, favorite learning centers, and so on.
