set of shape flashcards for triangle, square, and rectangle.

Instructions

1. Place the shape flashcards
in the bag.
2. Engage the children in a
discussion about the
number of sides for each
shape.
3. Ask a child to draw a
shape from the bag and
count the sides.
4. Ask the child to choose
some friends with whom
to lie down and make the
shape on the rug.
5. Pick another child and
challenge him to identify the shape.
6. Let the child who identified the first shape draw the next shape out of the bag.
7. Repeat the activity. Continue until all the children have a chance to pick a
shape and choose other children with whom to make it.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
l Does the child choose the right number of friends to make the shape he
picked from the bag?
l Can the child identify the shapes the other children make?
