large piece of heavy white paper taped to a wall or table near the jar
crayon or other marking utensil
Instructions
1. Collect a variety of keys. Ask for discarded keys at a hardware store or from a
locksmith.
2. Ask the children to sort the keys. When they are done, ask them how they
sorted them (shape, color, and so on).
3. Encourage the children to count the keys, as well.
4. Make a class graph depicting how many of each type or color keys there are.
5. Encourage the children to make patterns out of the keys.
