Materials

Magazine pictures of people of various ages, both genders and differing body types

Envelope for each picture

Glue sticks

Construction paper

Instructions

1. Cut the pictures into two, three or four pieces (use straight cuts).

2. Use the envelopes to keep the puzzle pieces together.

3. Give each child an envelope and a piece of construction paper large enough to hold the complete picture. Give younger children the puzzles with fewer pieces.

4. Let the children assemble the puzzles on the paper.

5. When the puzzles are complete, they may glue the pieces in place.More to doLanguage: Name body parts, the gender of the person pictured and possible role (mommy, daddy, big brother, sister, baby, grandmother, etc.). This activity provides an opportunity for children to develop perceptual awareness of body parts, fine motor control and hand-eye coordination.
