Materials

buckets of water (1 for every 2 to 4 children)2" paintbrushessidewalk chalk

Instructions

1. Draw a shape on the playground about 2' in size.

2. Invite the children to identify the shape.

3. Change the colors of chalk and draw several more shapes, one or two perchild.

4. Invite each child to choose one or more shapes to "paint." Help them printtheir names (with chalk) inside the shape they want to paint.

5. Provide children with buckets of water to share and paintbrushes.

6. Invite the children to "paint" their shapes and watch their names and shapesdisappear.

7. Invite the children to create their own chalk shapes and paint them withwater.
