Materials

copy of the song Over in the Meadow by Olive A. Wadsworthlight green or light blue shower curtainpermanent markerspictures of each mother animal and baby animals mentioned in the songlaminatortape or CD of Over in the Meadowtape recorder or CD player

Instructions

1. In advance, draw a meadow scene on the shower curtain using permanent markers.

2. Prepare one picture of each mother animal as well as the number of baby animals mentioned in the song (one toad, two fish, three bluebirds, four muskrats, five bees, six crows, seven crickets, eight lizards, nine frogs, and ten spiders).

3. Laminate all of the pictures for longevity.

4. Show the children the animal pictures and talk about the different animals.

5. Sing the song with the children. Invite them to help place the mother animals on the shower curtain with the correct number of baby animals.
