Two decks of Old Maid playing cards

poster board

glue stick

clear contact paper or laminating film

poker chips, at least ten each of four colors

Instructions

1. To make the game board, take one set of Old Maid cards and remove the old
maid card. Place the rest of the cards in random order on the piece of poster
board. Make sure the cards are not touching and are in the shape of a square
or large rectangle when all are on the board.
2. Glue the cards in place.
3. Cover the finished board with clear contact paper or laminating film.
4. To play the game, gather two to four players. Shuffle the second deck of cards
and add the extra old maid card to the deck.
5. Each player gets four cards to start and ten poker chips. Each player should
have a different color of chips. The object of the game is to be the first player
to get four of her colored chips in a row. Rows may be horizontal, diagonal,
or vertical.
6. Players take turns removing a card from their hand and covering the
corresponding card on the board with a poker chip. The player then discards
the card into the discard pile.
7. After each turn, the player draws a new card, keeping four cards in her hand
at all times. Players also may choose to block an opponent. If a player is dealt
or draws the Old Maid, she may use it as a Wild Card. The Old Maid card
may be used to remove another player's chip or to cover any card on the
board with a chip.
