Instructions
Read stories to the children and talk about things that people do when they go
to work.
2. Hold up pictures and see if any of the children recognize some of the people
in various jobs. For example, show the children a picture of a trash truck, a
picture of a mail carrier, and so on.
3. Tell the children that they are going to make their own book about things that
they want to be when they grow up.
4. Give each child a turn describing what he wants to be when he grows up.
Write down the information on a sheet of paper, and have the children
illustrate their pages. Also provide children with pictures and scissors and invite
the children to cut out and glue the pictures of the professions they want to
explore on their pages.
5. When all the children finish illustrating their pages, laminate and bind them
together. Read the book to the children.
6. Let each child have a turn taking the book home.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
l Can the children identify the various professions shown in the pictures?
l Can the children describe the duties of the professions they want to have
when they grow up?
l Were the children able to illustrate their pages of the book?
