Materials
22 pieces of 12" x 18" card stock
hole punch markers or pencils yarn paint paintbrushes 5" number cards 1 to 11Instructions
* Punch two holes at the top of 22 card stock pieces.
* Draw large outlines of numbers 1 to 11 on 11 pieces of the card stock.
* Cut 22 12" lengths of yarn.
What to Do
1. Ask a group of children to paint in the numbers drawn on the card stock. Ask
another group to paint a set of shapes on the other card stock pieces, so when
the children finish, they have a picture of one item for the 1 number card, a
picture of 2 items for the 2 number card, and so on.
2. When dry, help the children match the number cards with the painted sets.
3. Tie the matching cards together, leaving enough space for them to fit over a
child's shoulders, like a sandwich-board sign. The number card should be
facing so that it hangs over the child's front, and the set card should be
hanging against the child's back, visible to the child behind him.
4. Ask the children to slip them on and get in order. March around outside
singing the song. After each time the song is sung, stop marching and shout
out, "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11!"

We love to count and count some
more
All around the station.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven,
Eight, nine, ten, eleven.
We are numbers on parade,
All in grand formation!
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
* Can the children name the numbers on the set of number cards?
* Give the children number cards for 1 to 5. Can they put them order?
