several sets of laminated numeral cards on strings from 1 to 10

Instructions

1. Make several sets of number cards (1 to 10) and laminate them. Punch a hole in the upper right corner and the upper left corner of the cards and tie a string through the holes.

2. In this variation of "Farmer in the Dell," the children wear the number cards as necklaces and make a circle.

3. Choose a child wearing a "1" card to stand inside the circle.

4. As the children sing the song below, ask the child in the circle to choose a child wearing the "2" card to join her in the circle.The one will choose a two,The one will choose a two,Here comes another one!The one will choose a two.

5. With the two children inside the circle, sing the next verse. The second child picks a child wearing a "3" card to join her inside the circle.The two will choose a three,The two will choose a three,Here comes another one!The two will choose a three.

6. Continue until the tenth child is chosen and repeat until all the children are inside the circle.
