scissors (adult only) number yolk cutouts large poster board for egg game boardInstructions
* Prepare number "yolks" by cutting out yellow circles and numbering each
yolk from 1 to 10. Laminate for durability.
* Write corresponding numbers on poster board.
What to Do
1. Place one number circle in
each plastic egg.
2. The children can
simulate "cracking"
their egg and matching
their number in the egg
to the same number on
the game board.
3. If the children can count
past 10, make it a little
more challenging by making
egg numbers and corresponding
numbers on the board up to 20.
4. For extra fun with this game in the Math Station, store your eggs in a frying pan
with a real spatula. Great in the dramatic play area as well!
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
* Can the children recognize and name written numbers from 1 to 10?
* Can the children match pairs of numbers 1 to 10?
