10 or more various food containers per bag, total of 40 colorful number cards or number stickersInstructions

What to Do
1. Invite a group of four children to work at the dramatic play center for this
game.
2. Encourage each child to pick up a grocery bag and carry it around the room.
3. Have the children return to the "play house" area, pretending to come home
from a grocery shopping trip.
4. Invite the children to take turns as they remove items from their bags and
identify the number on each item.
5. Allow the children to work until all the items are displayed at the center and
they have identified each number.
6. Invite the children to return 10 items to the bags so the game is ready for the
next set of children.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
* Ask one child to select an item from a grocery bag. Can the child name the
number on the item and then display it on the table?
* Sit with the children. Have each child hold a bag of numbered groceries.
Invite the children to take turns removing items from their bags. Can each
child identify all the numbers in his bag?
