Instructions

1. Print large numerals 1 to 10 (or 1 to 20) at one end of the playground area.

2. Use the permanent marker to print the same numerals on the fabric squares.

3. Have children line up in pairs on the opposite side of the playground from the numerals.

4. Have the first several pairs of children hold a fabric square between them.

5. On the command: "Go to __ (fill in the numeral)," each pair of children runs across the playground and around the numeral they are assigned, without letting go of the fabric square.

6. When the first pair is halfway there, send another pair to a different numeral.

7. When the children return, they go to the end of the line.

8. Continue the game as the children run around each numeral and back.More to do: Draw shapes or groups of objects on the playground instead of large numerals.Have the children identify the shape or count to objects as they run around it.
