Learn the song below. Practice demonstrating the numbers with your fingers.
What to Do
1. Review counting from 1 to 10 with hands in the air, showing the correct number
of fingers for each number.
2. Sing the following song, showing the correct number of fingers at the
appropriate times. Have the children mirror your hand motions with the song.

1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, 4 and 5, (show

All the fingers on my one hand (hold

Clap your hands and (clap hands.)
Sing again!
3. Once the children are confident with the numbers and fingers, explain that the
group will sing the song three times in a row, starting slowly the first time and
increasing the speed and rhythm of the song the second and third time.
4. Sing the song three times, increasing the speed of the song each time. By the
end of the third time, everyone should be laughing and giggling at the silliness of
the effort.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
* Can the children slowly count from 1 to 10, demonstrating the numbers with
their fingers?
* If you ask to see five fingers, do the children hold up one hand?
