Instructions

l Use the tree shape cutout to draw
basic tree outlines on all the sheets
of paper.
What To Do
1. Gather the children together and
read a book about trees through the
seasons (see list to the left).
2. Talk with the children about what
happens to trees through the seasons,
including how the trees change shape and color.
3. Set out the paper and other materials. Invite the children to paint and
decorate one image of a tree in each season. Talk with the children about
their pictures as they work, guiding them toward season-appropriate imagery.
Note: The children can use the strips of green tissue paper to make leaves to
glue to the trees for the summer season.
Teacher - to - Teacher Tip
l Consider posting the children's pictures together by name or by season and
challenging the children to find their own images and say which seasons they
represent.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
l Can the children describe how the various seasons affect trees?
l Are the children able to make tree paintings for each separate season?
