Instructions

1. To grab the children's attention and help them transition to dramatic play
during the winter, decorate the room with artificial pine trees, snowflakes,
icicles, and pictures to give the room a wintry feeling. Place mittens, jackets,
sweaters, parkas, hats, and other warm clothes in the dress-up area.
2. Show the children pictures of snowy places and animals that live in cold
climates (polar bears, penguins). Discuss the pictures.
3. Cut off the sides of a large box. Attach rope to make a handle. Have "pretend
sled rides" in the classroom. The cardboard moves easily across bare floors.
