Instructions

1. On a snowy day in winter, engage the children in a discussion about the weather.
Ask the children if they remember seeing snow like this in the summer.
2. Ask the children to describe the snow, and talk about its accumulation.
3. Ask the children if they have ever seen or built a snowman.
4. Invite the children to sing the following song. Encourage them to make up actions
that go along with each verse:
Let's Build a Snowman by Jackie Wright
(Tune: "Let's Build a House")
Let's build a snowman.
Let's build a snowman.
Let's build a snowman.
And work, work, work.
Roll a large snowball.
Roll a large snowball.
Roll a large snowball.
For his body.
Roll a medium snowball.
Roll a medium snowball.
Roll a medium snowball.
For his middle.
Roll a small snowball.
Roll a small snowball.
Roll a small snowball.
For his head.
Now add a carrot.
Now add a carrot.
Now add a carrot
For his nose.
Now add a scarf.
Now add a scarf.
Now add a scarf.
Around his neck.
Don't forget the hat.
Don't forget the hat.
Don't forget the hat.
For his head.
(Additional Verses: Encourage the children to make up more verses for the song.)
