Instructions

Cut the tag board
into pieces about
the size of
placemats.
What to Do
1. Give every child a
piece of tag board,
a curtain ring, and a
few crayons.
2. Demonstrate how to
use a curtain ring
and crayon to draw a
pattern with circles (for
example, five circles in a row).
3. Help the children draw the outline of the circles (one for every letter in their
name) on both the sides of the placemat and color them. Help the children
write their names inside the circles (one circle for every letter).
4. Laminate the children's placemats for durability and send them home.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
l Ask the children to point out circular objects in the classroom.
l Ask the children to use their index fingers to draw circles in the sand and
water table or in the sandbox.
