Instructions
1. Set out several stuffed toy tigers and engage the children in a discussion about
tigers. Ask the children what they know about the animals, where they live,
how large they are, and so on.
2. Set the hula hoop on the floor. Explain that most tigers
live in captivity, and ask the children
to return their tigers to the hoop.
3. As the children return the tigers to
their hoop, count the number of tigers
aloud with the children.
4. When all the tigers are inside the
hoop, ask the children to count the
total number of tigers again.
Teacher - to - Teacher Tip
* For a challenge, ask the children to start with all the tigers in the hoop and
then to take one tiger out of the hoop and count backwards together to
introduce the concept of subtraction.
