Materials
A roll of white poster or butcher paper
Pencils or felt-tipped pens
Scissors
Tempera paint in assorted colors, including beige, tan, black, and brown skin tones
Paintbrushes
Instructions
1. Ahead of time, cut a piece of poster or butcher paper for each child. The paper should be longenough that the children can make life-size drawings.
2. Distribute the paper to the children and have them choose partners.
3. Ask one child in each pair to lie down on the paper on their back.
4. As the first child lies still, have her partner trace her body with a pencil or felt-tipped pen. Whenthe outline is finished, have the children switch places and the first child makes an outline ofthe second child.
5. Help the children cut out their pictures. Invite them to add their features, clothing, and otherdetails using paint and markers so that the pictures begin to look like them.
6. When the pictures are dry, display them along a wall.More to doCircle time: Have the children guess which outline belongs to each child.
