Instructions
1. Read a favorite story to the children (for example, The Very Hungry
Caterpillar).
2. Encourage the children to re-tell story by acting it out.
3. Help the children design and make costumes for the story, such as the different
fruits and foods, the caterpillar, the cocoon, and of course, the beautiful
butterfly.
4. Encourage the children to practice the story again and perform for another
group of children. (Children can tell the story in their own words, or you can
read the story for them.)
More to do
Music and Movement: Encourage the children to make up dances or movements
to music that is light and airy (like a butterfly!).
Writing center: Ask the children to dictate the story to you as you write it down.
Encourage them to illustrate it.
