Instructions

1. Show the shell to the
children. Explain that
they will hear sounds in
the shell.
2. Ask them to think about what they might
hear in the shell. Some ideas might include waves, fish bubbles, submarines,
and mermaids.
3. When all the children are settled in their sleeping cots, tell them that they
will get a chance to hear the sounds. Explain that you will have a turn first,
and then everyone will get a turn.
4. The children listen to the shell, tell the group what they heard, and then
close their eyes and wait until everyone has had a turn.
More to do If your center or school is near a beach, take the children on a field trip to
collect their own special seashell.
