two sets of large numerals (1 to 5 or 1 to 10)

Instructions

1. Place one set of numerals on the chalkboard or a bulletin board.

2. Ask the children to name the numbers.

3. Show the children the second set of numerals.

4. Show them how to match numeral 1 to the numeral 1 on the board.

5. Ask, "Can you show me what number matches with the number on the board?"6. Ask them to choose their favorite number.More to do Place the large numerals on the table. Ask the children to find objects around the room to match the number. For example say, "How many objects do you need for the number five?" The child may find five objects and then place them below the numeral 5 on the table.
