Instructions
1. Collect a variety of old keys. Parents, friends, and relatives are good sources.
2. Place keys on the copier very gently so you don't scratch the glass. Then make
a copy of the keys. When placing the keys on the copier, try to make sure
that any distinguishing markings are facing down on the copier.
3. On the back of the copy, write how many keys there are. Then laminate it or
cover it with clear contact paper.
4. Place the keys on a small tray.
5. Encourage the children to match the keys on the tray with the keys on the
laminated copy. This is a very quick matching activity to make, and the
children love to handle keys.
6. It is a good idea to count the keys before putting this activity away. Remind
the children to keep the keys in the tray and not in their little pockets.
More to do
This is a good activity to use during a transportation unit.
