52 index cards, 4" x 6" (10 cm x 15 cm)
Permanent marker (adult only)
Envelope (large enough to hold a 4" x 6" card)
Cassette or CD player
Cassette or CD with children's music
Instructions
1. Place a picture or part of a comic strip into paper bags.
2. Give each child a bag. Ask each child to make up a story about her picture.
3. As the children become more skilled at story telling, encourage them to put
their stories together to make one story.
More to do
Add more pictures to the story bags and ask each child to put together a story
with their pictures. Write their stories on a piece of paper. Put each story into a
book for each child, or make a group storybook.
Introduce story time like this:
I have a story to tell.
I have a story to tell.
I'll look in my bag and find out what story I am going to tell.
(Make up your own tune or clap each time you say a word.)
