Instructions

* This comes from an Inuit game and can be used as an ice-breaker, as well
as to help teach self-control.
1. The children form a seated circle, with one child standing in the middle.
2. The child in the middle points silently to another child, who has to stand
up and repeat the Inuit word "muk" three times without smiling or
laughing.
3. If that child smiles or laughs, he changes places with the one in the
middle.
4. If he succeeds in not laughing, the child in the middle remains standing.
5. Continue playing, making sure everyone has a turn, until the last child is
standing. Then everyone together should unite to try and get her to
smile.
More to do Use this game as part of an Inuit, Arctic, snow, emotions, or international
games theme.
Social Development: Show the children photographs of people showing
different emotions (smiling, frowning, and so on) and encourage them to
identify the emotions accurately. Talk about emotions, what they are, and
why we have them.
