Materials
6 to 8 white or brown lunch bags
Small plastic or fabric trinkets for each bag (The trinkets should be representative
of a familiar nursery rhyme. For example, use a small dish and spoon to
represent "Hey Diddle Diddle," a pair of child's mittens for "Three Little
Kittens," and a small black sheep for "Baa, Baa Black Sheep.")
Instructions
1. Read Stellaluna.
2. Have the children tell you things that the bats did in the story. (Flying at night,
eating fruit, hang upside down, etc.)
3. Write their answers on the board and if possible draw a simple picture so they
can "read" the picture.
4. Create hand and body motions for each suggestion they give you and then
sing the following song using those motions.
