Materials

Poster board cut in 6" (15 cm) squares

Old magazines

Scissors

Glue

Water

Cups

Old paintbrushes

Markers

Instructions

1. Invite the children to choose a color for their flower.

2. Have the children cut pictures with shades of that color from magazines, then cut the picturesinto small squares.

3. Mix glue and water in a cup and ask the children to apply a coat of glue to their poster boardwith a paintbrush.

4. Have the children place their color squares on the poster board, overlapping them and coveringthe entire board.

5. When the children have covered the poster board, instruct them to draw or trace a flower patternon its reverse side.

6. Help the children cut along the flower pattern.

7. When the children have cut out their flower, have them paint a coat of glue over the top of it.More to doHoliday: Attach a pin on the back of the flower and create a piece of jewelry to give as a gift.More art: Attach a pipe cleaner stem and paper leaves to the flowers.
