Chalk

Large sponge, painted gray for the moon rock

Instructions

1. Draw a hopscotch game board on the pavement.

2. When it is time for each child to take a turn, give her the moon rock to throw. Use circles, crescents and semi-circles in the game board to represent the different phases of the moon.

3. When the moon rock lands on a particular shape, ask the child to identify the shape, as well as the numeral on it.
