Materials

Cans of frosting or formula with lids, empty and clean

Scissors

Construction paper

Glue

Money stickers

Other decorating items such as yarn, bits of fabric and wrapping paper, and buttons

One penny per child

Instructions

1. Beforehand, cut small slots in the lids of thecans.

2. If necessary, cover the cans with constructionpaper.

3. Have the children decorate the cans with stickersand other decorating supplies.

4. When the children finish decorating their bank,give them each a penny to start their savingsaccount.More to doDramatic play: Make a cash register or moneydrawer from a shoebox, and supply the childrenwith plastic play coins for banking and shopping.Field trip: Visit a bank.Games: Play money lotto.
