Materials

Red, yellow and blue paint

Paper for each child

Instructions

1. Discuss the "magic" of mixing colors. Using paint, demonstrate to the children what happens when you mix two primary colors.

2. Give each child a small amount of paint in a primary color on one side of the paper and a small amount of another color on the other side.

3. Ask each child to fold his paper closed and press down from top to bottom.

4. Open the paper and see the colorful blots in a new color that the children have created.

5. Ask the children what picture they see in their painting and label the picture for them.

6. Cut the paintings into butterfly shapes and hang them around your room.
