Instructions

1. To make mitten shapes, children trace the outline of their hands (fingers together) or trace a cardboard pattern.

2. Encourage the children to color their mittens in bright patterns and designs (make sure the child colors both mittens the same way).

3. Cut out the mittens and scramble them together.

4. Have children work in small groups to match the mittens. Encourage them to count the mittens one by one and use the pairs to identify even and odd numbers.More to do: Have the children pin their mittens on a bulletin board display in color groups or pattern groups, for example, red, blue, and green or stripes, dots, and swirls.
