Instructions

1. Talk about the tools used to take measurements, including a ruler, yardstick, tape measure, and height chart.

2. Let the children use the tools to take measurements around the class.

3. Give each child a sheet of paper with different classroom items pictured on it. During the day, the children measure the different items pictured on their sheet and write down the numbers.

4. Talk about which doll is the longest, which truck is the widest, which car is shorter, and so on. This will introduce a variety of new measurement words into the children's vocabulary.
