growth chart

register receipt paper

3" paper circles

Instructions

1. Hang a growth chart on a wall and measure each child. Using cash
register paper, tear off a length equal to each child's height.
2. Give each child a pre-cut 3" paper circle.
3. Encourage them to draw faces on their
circles and attach them to their register
tape "bodies."
4. If desired, do this activity in the fall
(beginning of school) and in late spring
(end of school). Encourage the children to
compare their fall "bodies" and their
spring "bodies" or compare their
heights with classmates.
More to do Blocks: Challenge the
children to build a Lego or
block tower as high as their
heads.
Math: Let the children practice measuring things in the room.
