1. Before using manipulatives for math lessons, allow the children time to play with them. After the children spend some time exploring the materials, they will be ready to use them for math lessons.

2. When setting up Math Stations, have each one teach the same concept. For instance, when teaching how to write numerals, have one center with clay, one with salt boxes, one with laminated numerals to trace, and so on. When the children are done with one center, they can move on to another at their own pace, and still be working on the same concept.
