Materials

different "surprise" materials for each month (see activity below)

Instructions

1. Each month, bring in a different "surprise" material for the children to use
creatively in the Art Station, such as fabric pieces, wood pieces, spools,
plastic shapes, paper towel tubes, and so on. Look around your
community for ideas (grocery stores, print shops, appliance stores, craft
store discards, garage sales, flea markets, and so on). The materials should
be varied, interesting, plentiful, and safe for the children to use.
2. Provide a variety of accessories for them to use in their creation or
invention (glue, tape, twist-ties, yarn, string, rope, rubber bands, paper,
cardboard, and so on).
3. When children are creating, stay nearby in case they want more items
to complete their creations.
4. Display their completed projects and acknowledge their efforts. Do not
give awards or rewards for the project itself.
