* Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is celebrated on the third Monday of January.1. Read parts of the "I Have a Dream" speech. This is a long speech, so pullout the parts that relate to the activity. Discuss what the words meanand the overall message of the speech.2. Do "people sorting" by grouping the children with certain characteristics,such as same hair color, eye color, shirt color, shoe type, and so on.3. Have each child draw a picture of herself. Discuss the similarities anddifferences between each child.4. Have the children dictate stories about peace and getting along witheveryone. Make a class book with these stories.
