Instructions
1. Try this activity when you have a few extra moments, or any time when the
children need to get up and move.
2. Sing "Here We Go "Round the Mulberry Bush" and change the lyrics to go
with different gross motor actions.
3. Ideas for movement include skipping around, riding a bike, flying like a bird,
jumping up and down, swinging on a swing, climbing some rocks, galloping
like a horse, kicking a ball, hopping like a rabbit, walking on tiptoe, bending
and stretching, and marching in a parade.
4. Use these actions in other games, such as "Simon Says," "Mother May I," or
"Duck, Duck Goose."
Note: If necessary, write gross motor actions on file cards, as reminders.
Here We Go "Round the Mulberry Bush
Here we go "round the mulberry bush,
Mulberry bush, mulberry bush,
Here we go "round the mulberry bush,
On a bright and sunny day.
This is the way we hop up and down,
Hop up and down, hop up and down,
This is the way we hop up and down,
On a bright and sunny day.
More to do Gross Motor: Try doing two activities at the same time, such as clapping and
jumping. Try doing activities with eyes closed. This is challenging!
More Gross Motor: Have the children do motions of things they do when they
get up, such as wash their face.
Math: Count the actions done.
