Instructions

1. Before this activity, prepare booklets
for the children by stapling two pieces
of construction paper together. Cut
two slits on the right side of the top
sheet to form three horizontal flaps.
2. Read Where the Wild Things Are to the
children.
3. Give each child a booklet and put the
children into groups of three. Explain
that they will work together in groups
of three to create a "friendly wild
thing."
4. Help the children write "My Wild Thing"
on the front of their booklets (one
word on each flap of paper). You may
need to do this step for them.
5. Ask the children to pull
back the top flaps of their
booklets and draw a head
for their wild thing.
6. Have the children pass
their booklets to another
child in their group. This
child pulls back the middle
flap and draws a body for
the wild thing.
7. The children then pass the
booklets to the third child
in the group, who draws
the feet for the wild thing.
8. Tell the children not to
open any flaps except the
one they are
working on.
9. Let each child reveal his
wild thing at circle time
and name it.
