Instructions

1. Before setting up a camping center in your classroom, send home the
following letter to parents:
Dear families,
The dramatic play area is one of the busiest learning centers in our classroom. We
like to keep it this way by changing the themes periodically and transforming it
into a new and exciting place for children to role play, discover new ideas, use their
imaginations, use real-life tools of the trade, and continue practicing the everyday
social skill of getting along with one another.
We are getting ready to change the dramatic play area into a camping theme and
would like to invite you to help by donating any of the following items to help
make this area a fun and exciting place for children. These items are things you
may find in your closets or garages. It is a great way to get rid of a few things you
no longer have a use for! Here are some items we could use:
* child-size sleeping bag
* child-size tent
* camping utensils
* pretend lanterns
* clean frying pan
* toy camping stove
* metal coffee cans
* children's books about camping
* branches from trees
* flashlights
* picnic baskets
Thank you all for your donations. We appreciate your help in making this new
change to the dramatic play area happen. The children will love it!
