The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle Egg cartons cut in half lengthwise, one per child

Hole punch Pipe cleaners

Markers Glue

Wiggle eyes

Instructions

1. Read The Very Hungry Caterpillar with the children to learn about the caterpillar's life cycle. Then help them make their own caterpillars.

2. Cut the egg cartons in half lengthwise and glue on the wiggle eyes.

3. Punch holes for pipe cleaner legs and use the markers to color the caterpillar.More to doArt: Make butterfly finger puppets using paper coin roll covers. Punch a hole for pipe cleaner antennae and glue on two paper wings.Dramatic play: Use a sock to be the very hungry caterpillar and have paper foods for him to "eat" through.
