Materials
poster board
small envelopes construction paper stapler scissors (adult only)Instructions
* Draw five houses on the poster board.
* Cut sheets of construction paper in half.
* Staple the half sheets onto the poster board under each house; this will form
the pockets in which the children will need to place the envelopes.
* Write a number from 1 to 5 on each of the houses and the envelopes.
* If you wish, cover the board with contact paper or laminate it so it will last
longer.
What to Do
1. When the children come
over to play the game,
explain to them that they will
be mail carriers and deliver
the mail to each house.
2. Show the children the
envelopes and explain that
the number on each of the
envelopes corresponds to a
number on the house.
3. When the children find the
houses that match their
numbers, they can put the
correct envelope in the pocket below the house.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
* Do the children recognize the numbers on the envelopes?
* As the children play the game, can they match the number on the envelope
to the correct house?
