Materials

2 doughnut magnets Wooden dowel

Small piece of wood Drill

Instructions

1. Drill a hole the size of the dowel in the piece of wood and glue the dowel into the hole.

2. Show the children how the doughnut magnet slides up and down the pole.

3. Talk to the children about the north and south ends of a magnet.

4. Let the children try to put the opposite sides of the magnets on the pole. The magnets cannot be pushed together. The children will think there's an invisible spring between them.
