circle time rug

Instructions

* Halloween is celebrated on October 31st.
1. At circle time, have all the children sit on their knees and bend over with
their chests on their thighs and faces facing the rug. (Ask them to try to
look like a rock.)
2. Chant, "Magic rock, turn into...", and then call out something associated
with Halloween.
3. The children (and you) "turn into" the Halloween symbol. For example:
* Bat: stand with arms flapping
* Cat: crawl and meow
* Ghost: walk around making ghost sounds
* Monster: stomp around with arms raised up high, roaring
* Spider: crawl around on hands and feet
* Pumpkin: spin around in seat
* Skeleton: wiggle entire body
4. After acting out one character for a few seconds, call out, "Magic rock,"
and all the children return to their rock positions on the rug and wait to
hear what they will "turn into" next.
5. Ask the children what they would like to turn into.
