4 spring-type clothespins

Felt scraps or construction paper

Instructions

What to do
1. Show the children how to stuff
the stocking about threefourths
of the way. Tie off the
stuffed portion with a rubber
band. The remaining stocking
can be the horse's tail.
2. The stuffed stocking will look
like a fat sausage. About onethird
of the way from the toe
end, tie another rubber band to
make the horse's head, which
may droop down.
3. Invite the children to attach four clothespins on the underside of the horse for legs.
4. The children can cut and glue yarn for a mane and small pieces of felt or paper for the ears and
eyes.
5. If they want, the children can make playdough hooves for the bottom of the clothespins.
