Materials

8" x 8" construction paper squares in various colors

9" x 9" red and white construction paper squares

glue

crayons and markers

Instructions

* Valentine's Day is February 14th.
1. Discuss people we love in our families. Ask the children to chooseone
person they love to make a drawing for a bulletin board quilt.
2. Give each child 8" square of paper to draw the face of a person he loves.
3. Glue the completed drawings on the 9" squares and arrange them on the
bulletin board in a quilt pattern.
4. If desired, glue them on bulletin board paper to make a wall hanging for
the classroom or hallway.
More to do Gross Motor: Count the sides of a square with the children, and then
choose four children to lie down and make a square on the rug.
Literacy: Make a list of other words that begin with the letter Q: quiet,
quarter, queen, quart, and so on.
Snack: Serve square crackers for a treat.
